This place is amazing... the best staff and wonderful food. Their bread is awesome. If only London had more places like this.

What is it with English shops? You claim to want to be 'up-market' yet you give down-market service and are inattentive. On mainland Europe we encourage shoppers to feel involved and welcome and allow them to experience their time with us (the shopkeeper), not as if they are interrupting our mail order business or whatever it is that was distracting the shopkeeper in The East Dulwich Deli.

I am sad to say that this is generally the way at most shops in London, and particularly in this area. However good the product, it's the service that will make or break you. It's unlikely that I will bother going to the deli again. I'll go instead to the Sainsbury's up the hill, where at least what they have to offer is reasonably priced and they serve you politely.
